Customer’s Challenge
Orange operate one of the largest mobile phone networks in the UK and their high performance network coverage provides customers with a signal in over 95% of the UK. At home or abroad, their network offers a wide range of data and voice services, including GPRS, EDGE, 3G, 3G+ and WiFi, meaning customers can work with complete freedom.
Maintenance of this network requires a dedicated team of telecommunications engineers to ensure their network operates to maximum capacity at all times. The equipment engineers are required to transport is highly technical and valuable. After the theft of 2 spectrum analysers from their service vehicles, Orange realised some precautionary measures would need to be taken. Their requirements for a security solution involved designing vehicle safes that would allow the spectrum analyser to be operable, chargeable and cooled while housed in a vehicle safe that would be easy to install and remove.
autosafe® Solution
Orange’s challenge required a bespoke solution, something autosafe® have a track record of providing. The safe was designed around the dimensions of the spectrum analysers and was front loading to meet Orange’s easy installation and usability requirements. Cable access to the rear of the safe meant the unit could be charged and powered at all times and an air flow management system was installed to prevent any risk of overheating.
